Shipping Takes Many Forms
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
Hay is exported around
the world in many forms, and
a variety of new shipping
techniques have been created
to meet the increased de
mands abroad, as well as in
the U.S.
Quality hay products can
be offered for shipment in
dehydrated pellets, alfalfa
cubes, regular compressed
bales, and double compressed
bales, along supplements.
These shipping forms can
reduce freight and shipping
costs substantially.
Hay products can be
loaded at the farm into ocean
containers using specialized
machinery such as a squeeze
lift, which can load as much
as 2,400 pounds of com
pressed hay bales onto wait
ing trucks.
The National Hay Associa
tion (NHA) can assist you by
providing names of overland
carriers, country point load
ers and terminal receivers,
and providers of quality hay
products.
