CATTLE; Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers sold 1.00-
1.50 higher. Trading was active ail week
with the best demand coming late in the
week. A very attractive supply of Hol
stein steers sold 1.00-3.00 higher.
Slaughter heifers have no comparison,
but a higher undertone noted. Feediots
in the Plains and Midwest reported live
cattle mostly 1.00 higher at 79.50- 80.00,
and 2.00-3.00 higher dressed at 130.00-
131.00. Slaughter cows traded steady to
2.00 higher for the week. Slaughter bull
prices were uneven, ranging from 1.00-
2.00 lower early, and closing 1.00 higher
late in the week. Supply included 39 per
cent steers, 8 percent heifers, 38 percent
cows, 4 percent bulls, with the balance
feeders.

few vealers sold steady, with very light
demand. Large slaughter calves were not
well tested. Holstein bulls continued to
be very active, and prices were 20.00-
30.00 higher, with very minimal dis
counts on the plainer type. Holstein
heifers sold mostly steady, with the
plainer type trading 10.00 lower.
VEALERS: Utility few 60-90 lbs

Prices were unchanged in all loca
tions. The trade sentiment was steady.
Demand was in a full range of light to
good, but was usually light to moderate.
Supplies were adequate to available.
Breaking stock demand was light to
moderate for about adequate to ade
quate offerings. Light type fowl were
fully sufficient for normal slaughter
schedules.

heifer, or grand champion steer.
Showmanship is Friday at 7
