Compared to last week: Feeder and
Stocker cattle steady. Demand good for
feeder cattle; very good for stockers.
This poor wheat grazing season contin
ues to limit the number of feeder cattle.
Stockers under 700 lbs still make up an
abnormally large part of the supply for
March.
Quality of supply plain to average,
end attractive. Feeder cattle in slightly
thin to moderate flesh, few fleshy. Stock
ers in medium to thin condition with few
fleshy new crop calves in supply. Weigh
ups highly varied from gaunt to full with
bulk in average condition. Slaughter
cows 2.50 lower. Slaughter bulls 1.00
lower. Packer demand moderate at
lower levels. Demand good for thin cows
returning to the country and replace
ment cows and pairs. Bulk of supply re
placement cows and pairs from couple of
dispersals. Many of these average to
good quality black cows in emaciated
condition. Cows and bulls totaled 650
