    Lebanon County 4-H Livestock Club Holds Recognition Banquet
NORTH CORNWALL (Leba
non Co.) The Lebanon County
4-H Livestock Club recently held
its annual recognition banquet.
Among the honored guests were
buyers from the livestock sales
and senior members.
The banquet was led by master
of ceremonies, Justin Fuls, a
member of the beef and swine
clubs. Other participating mem
bers included Heather Emrich,
Andrew Blatt, Travis Adam,
Emily Wenger, and Holly Meyer.
Seniors honored at the banquet were Andrew Blatt,
Travis Adam, Justin Fuls, Heather Emrich, Holly Meyer,
and Emily Wenger.

Janine Winebark, reserve cham
pion Brandon Winebark, as well
as showmanship trophies to the
two Winebarks plus Hannah
Artz. Brandon Winebark was
also recognized for showing the
grand champion market hog at
the 2001 Pennsylvania Farm
Show.
Brian Kreider, beef club lead
er, also recognized the winners
from his club. Kreider also
coaches the livestock judging
team.
The highlight of the year was
their win at the Cattail Classic in
Maryland. Competing against
teams from various states, they
easily won every category in this
contest.
Debbie Tice of the sheep club
recognized the many participants
from the past year. The roundup
champion Joseph Tice and re
serve champion Susan Leed also
received their trophies. She also
thanked fellow leaders Tim
Fleener, Wilmer Wenger, Daryl
and Michelle Grumbine, and
Julie Willard for their assistance.
Members who are seniors in
high school were recognized. The
seniors were Justin Fuls, Travis
Adam, Andrew Blatt, Heather
Emrich, Emily Wenger, Holly
Meyer, and Nathan Spatz.
Extension agent Galen Kopp
recognized the outstanding mem
bers. The members apply for this
award, listing their accomplish
ments for the past year. Unfortu
nately, there were no applicants
for the rookie award, and Kopp
encouraged everyone to apply
next year. The outstanding jun
ior member was awarded to
Emily Whitmoyer. Emily is a
member of the beef club, as well
as North Mountain Club, and
shows both breeding animals and
steers. She also participated in
many school and church activi
ties as well.
The outstanding senior mem
ber was awarded to Nathan Tice.
Nathan is a member of the beef,
sheep and swine clubs as well as
the livestock judging team. He
was reserve champion beef
blocker and beef showman at the
Lebanon Area Fair, as well as
showing the champion Shorthorn
steer at the Pennsylvania Farm
Show. He also participates in the
Northern Lebanon FFA Chapter.
In the closing comments of the
evening, several people were rec
ognized. The Ken Winebark
family is leaving for mission
work in late March. Ken is a for
mer extension agent, and this
past year was organization leader
for the Swine Club. His wife
Janet, and children Janine and
Brandon will all be part of the

Johns Hopkins Medical Center
in Baltimore after she donated a
kidney to her husband, who had
been on dialysis for several years.
Finally, former organization
leader of the Swine Club, Judy
Atkins was honored for her 15
plus years of service. Although
she stepped down from that role
about a year ago, she has contin
ued to do the computer work of
entering classes for the fair. Judy
has seen many 4-H’ers through
the program, including some
who are now leaders, such as
Brian Kreider, John Risser and
Daryl Grumbine.
