Jim, Becky and James Cornell, of Clayton Delaware are committed to making 71
the right things happen on their dairy. With well over 200 registered Holsteins
(120 cows and 110 heifers) and 460 acres (160 owned and 300 rented) they
realize the importance of working on the right things and having the right people
on their team
Cows are milked twice per day, with mostly family Tabor, plus some help from
JoAnn Lane. Milk is sold to Land O’Lakes Co-op.
The Correll’s look to Gene Garrett, Purina’s local dairy specialist, and the
Purina team for dairy nutrition leadership. Their forage (corn silage and alfalfa
baleage) is
complemented

Cow comfort is very important on the Correll dairy. James Jr. and cousin Aaron
Thompson recently worked to improve cow comfort by renovating the freestatl
barn.
Teamwork, enhanced nutrition and better cow comfort are paying off. The
Correll dairy has achieved their highest production yet; a herd average of 21,643
pounds milk, 828 pounds fat and 678 pounds of protein.
