day, slaughter steers traded 1.00-1.25
lower. The steer market opened with
losses on Monday and moved lower
through Tuesday’s good offering. The
quality was average to attractive, with a
largesupply of extremely heavy cattle on
offer. Slaughter heifers not well tested.
Holstein steers sold 1.00 lower on a thin
test. Slaughter cows traded steady to
1.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold 1.00
lower. Supply included 43 percent
slaughter steers and 44 percent cows.

CATTLE: Compared to last week’s
closing prices, early sales of slaughter
steers sold 1.00-1.25 lower and closed
late in the week 1.00-1.75 higher. Early
in week the steer market opened lower
but demand for kosher kills increased as
numbers got tight. Quality was mostly
average, with a couple of very attractive
lots on offer. Bad weather in the plains
and midwest caused delays in the feedlot
trade. No live sales reported, however
few sales on dressed basis traded steady
to 1.00 lower at 123.00-125.00. Slaughter
heifers not well tested. Local holstein
steer prices traded 1.00 lower for the
week. Slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00
