Daily National
Grain Market
Summary
St. Joseph, MO
January 2,2001
Report Supplied By USDA
Daily National Grain Market Sum-
mary
Grains bids finished lower due to lack
of fresh export sales and favorable news
of soybean production in South America.
Wheat bids steady to 4 cents lower. Corn
4 to 6 cents lower. Sorghum 8 cents
lower. Soybeans 1 to 6 cents lower.
Export inspections for last week were
fair for wheat but poor for other grains
and soybeans especially year to date fig
ures. Lower soybean meal prices added
weakness to bean bids.
Grains inspected for export for week
ended 12/28/00: Wheat totaled 21.0, up
6.2 million bushels, corn 15.1, down 25.3,
sorghum 1.0, down 3.8, and soybeans
18.9, up 500 thousand bushels compared
to a week ago.
Year to Date: Wheat totaled 652.7,
down 36.9, corn 616.2, down 72.8, sor
ghum 63.8, down 6.8, and soybeans
410.9, down 6.0. Crop marketing years
begin June 1 for wheat and September 1
for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.
EXPORT SALES: PURCHASER
COMMODITY TONNAGE DELIV
ERY DATE Nothing new to report.
THESE MAY NOT BE THE ONLY
EXPORT SALES THAT HAVE TRAN
SPIRED, BUT THEY ARE THE ONLY
SALES THAT COULD BE CON
FIRMED BY USDA GRAIN MARKET
NEWS.
