Prices were 5 cents lower on the larger
sizes, 3 cents lower on mediums. The
market tone was weak. Demand into all
outlets was mostly moderate. Supplies
were generally adequate for tiade re
quirements. The New York State shell
egg inventory was 11 percent more, but
the New Jersey inventory was 7 percent
less than last week.

NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE
In the Eastern region, prices were
mostly unchanged to sharply lower.
However, in Florida, prices were higher
when based on previous week’s averages.
Elsewhere, prices were unchanged. The
market tone was mixed in a full range of
steady to weak. Demand varied from
area to area, but was mostly moderate to
good overall. Supplies of all sizes were
adequate to barely adequate. Breaking
stock offerings were at least adequate to
adequate and demand was light to mod
erate. Light type hens were sufficient for
reduced slaughter requirements.

when compared to a week earlier. Trad
ing was limited with traders usually cau
tious and in a holiday mode. Supplies
were adequate but usually not offered
out at discounts. Liquid and frozen eggs
(ingredients included) processed under
federal inspection in the Eastern region
for the week ending December 23,2000
were 9% less than last week but 1 %
