n4-H HAPPENINGS State 4-H Horse Show Winners In Dauphin County Dauphin County 4-H horse members received eight awards at the 41st annual State 4-H Horse Show Oct. 27-29 at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. County winners in 4-H per formance classes were Todd Hoffman, Harrisburg, first in western pleasure horses, junior rider, and second in western grooming and showmanship, junior division; Amy Klinger, Dauphin, 10th in saddle seat pleasure horse; and Ashley Pot teiger, Halifax, 10th in hunter under saddle horse, junior rider. In 4-H horse production class es, members breed and raise their own project animal. Local win ners were Megan Deveney, Enola, fourth, 2-year-old half Arabian filly; Evelyn Todd, Eliz abethville, fifth, yearling/ 2-year-old miniature horse; Owen Todd, Elizabethville, sec ond, 2-year-old miniature horse filly; Todd Hoffman, Harrisburg, fifth, quarterhorse yearling filly. Two other Dauphin County horse club members participated in the state contest. They were Caitlin Miller, Hummelstown, and Laura Theurer, Harrisburg. State 4-H Horse Show Winners In Bradford County Bradford County 4-H horse members received seven awards at the 41st annual Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse Show. County winners were David Muzzy from Ulster, a member of the Champion Chargers 4-H Club, third in the raised box key hole class for horses. Holly Rice, Mansfield, a member of the End less Mountains H&P Club, placed sixth in the pleasure pony driving class (14.2 hands and under). Erica Henderson from Towan da, a member of the Endless Mountains H&P Club, placed second in the obstacle trail class (therapeutic riding division) and Adam Townsend, of Coming, a member of Wyalusing H&P Club placed third. County winners in 4-H per formance classes were Rebecca James, sixth place in western grooming and showmanship, senior; Michelle Smith, third place in pole bending ponies; Michelle Smith, second place, clover leaf barrel race ponies; Dana Alexander, third place in raised box keyhole ponies; Amie Simanski, sixth saddle seat equi tation, junior; Kara Miller, first place, saddle seat equitation, sen ior; Kara Miller, second place, saddle seat pleasure ponies; Amie Simanski, third, saddle seat pleasure ponies; Kara Sim anski, fifth place, saddle seat pleasure horses; and Lisa Wicks, first place, draft horse driving. They were Krista Sossong, Kristen Cinko, and Kim Commons. w FFA Discover the Power Danville FFA A monthly meeting of the Danville FFA was conducted Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. The follow ing is a summary of the agenda items discussed. The state record book contest was announced for those who wanted to enter their supervised agricultural experience books. The area leadership confer ence, conducted Friday, Nov. 10, was reviewed. The club dis cussed the success and what they had learned from the conference. Last, in phi business, the club agreed to lissist with the' Tri-Ag Banquet Friday, Nov. 17. This year there will be farm safety demonstrations. On the top of the list of new business was community service. The club decided they would be helping rake the leaves off of the obstacle course at EOS. EOS is a therapeutic horse riding stable that works with the young and old who are disabled. One of the final topics on the agenda was the faculty breakfast during FFA week for the staff of the school. A committee was set up, along with a date. The last topic was the Aces conference. ws
