Lancaster Society 18 During the November meet- facts and refreshed their memo ing, members of Lancaster Farm ries about the events in the life of Women Society 18 heard new evangelist Dr. Billy Graham. The meeting opened with re freshments served in the lovely home of president Ruth Landis, Lancaster. Roll call was answer ed by members stating the num ber of telephones in their home. Guest speakers were Carl Bern hardt and his wife. Bernhardt told how Graham’s life was shaped, from his early years, at tendance at the Bible Institute of Florida, meeting his wife-to-be, Ruth Bell, close friendships with several Presidents. Graham’s world-wide ministry is funded by individual gifts, not by large corporations in order to prevent obligations. Also explained was how the life of Graham’s son Franklin and his spiritual trans formation. The business meeting in cluded early plans for the Janu ary Farm Show and simple plans for a Christmas gift exchange. Friendships of this group gives sharing times of illness and of joy and laughter. Entertaining Sister Society 20 from the Kirkwood area at the Farm and Home Center was made special by the Mueller Twins presentation “God’s Hid den Treasures.” Hostesses who greeted guests, prepared lovely tables and ar ranged the ‘carry-in’ dishes for the serving line, were Helen Her shey, Ellen Newswanger, Polly Stoltzfus, and Jean Groff. Food and fellowship spotlight the annual picnic held at Tinney Pavilion of Strasburg. Guest speaker. Dr. Albert Price, em phasized the importance of farm safety. Rhoda Landis, Viola Hostetter, Eileen McComas, and Jean F. Groff were responsible for hosting the evening. The benefit auction at the home of Gladys Esbenshade was again fun and successful. Deli cious refreshments were served by Clara Rohrer and Helen Herr. The countywide convention of Farm Women Society was held at the Farm and Home Center on Nov. 4. Two wives of Washing ton Congressmen. Janet Hall and Carolyn Wolf, were introduced by former Senate Chaplain C.P. Wright’s wife. These ladies, one republican and one democrat, are dear friends, proving that po litical barrier’s can be crossed. The common bond is that they both honor God and enjoy the freedom to speak of their rela tionship and Christ. Janet Leaman and Helen Her shey hosted Farm Women 14’s Nov. 8 meeting at the Ambassa dors For Christ facility. The min istry of AFC is to Chinese people living in America. For roll call, members had opportunity to tell about an Asian friend. A tour within the building took members to see an exact replica of the “Dark Chamber” where Chritianna Tsi spent many years. Many large bags of non-perishable food was brought to this meeting which will be given to Christ’s Home, Paradise.
