plots each in the northern, cen
tral, and southern regions of the
state, said agronomist Jim Beu
erlein, Ohio State University.
The trails’ average yields by
region beat the USDA’s state
wide estimate of 44-bushels per
acre.
“Many yields for certain vari
eties were up in the 60-bushel
per acre range,” Beuerlein said.
“We even had some in the low
705.”
Conventional yields averaged
(bushels per acre) 48.9, north;
48.7, central; and 56.9, south.

ery County was unable to partic
ipate because of a recent death
in the family. She was coached
by Judy Carmosky.
Roundup-Ready beans averaged
52.7, north; 50.8, central, and
61.2, south.
It was a good year to test dis
ease resistance in particular
varieties because of widespread
sclerotinia and phytophthora in
fections around the state, Beu
erlein said. Disease-resistant/-
tolerant varieties outperformed
the highly susceptible varieties.
The trials’ results also provide
lodging ratings, protein and oil
percentages as well as seed
