Compared to last week: Feeder steers
and heifers steady to 2.00 higher. Steer
calves steady. Heifer calves 2.00-3.00
higher. Demand very good for all
classes. Calves continue to run toward
the thin side of the spectrum with lower
percentage fleshy unweaned calves in
the consist. Quality average to attractive,
end plain. Feeder cattle in slightly thin
to fleshy conditions; calves showed the
complete range of thin to fleshy. Weigh
ups average, few full.
Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls 1.00 higher. Packer
demand light to moderate for cows, good
for bulls. Total included several aged
bred cows. Total of 400 cows and bulls
sold with 35 percent going to packers.
Receipts this week 7665; last week
11,257; last year 6492. ■
Supply consisted of 49 percent calves
and yearlings over 600 lbs; 46 percent
calves under 600 lbs; 5 percent cows and
bulls. Heifers comprised 36 percent of
feeder and calf supply.
