Cedar Crest FFA
Partidpates In National
FFA Convention
Recently members of the
Cedar Crest FFA went to Louis
ville, Ky. to attend the National
FFA Convention.

supervised by Harold Berkheiser
and Allison Martin.
They made several stops on
the way to Kentucky and were
able to visit the Dayton Air Force
Base Museum, Indianapolis
Motor Speedway, Louisville Zoo,
and they also had the chance to
tour the Louisville Slugger Base
ball Bat Factory.
While in Louisville they not
only attended conferences, but
were able to spend their spare
time as tourists. They attended
the National FFA Career Show
and the FFA Shopping Mall. The
career show included agriscience
businesses and universities where
FFA members could explore col
lege and job possibilities. They
also attended a reflections ses
sion and learned valuable leader
ship qualities from various
speakers.

FFA Environmental/Natural Resources
Career Development Event
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Members of Pennsylvania state FFA environmental and natural
resources team met with the Career Development Event sponsor’s representative Me
linda Hood, manager of corporate communications, Mississippi Chemical Corporation.
The team was one of 32 participating in the National FFA Environmental/Natural Re
sources Career Development Event at the 73rd National FFA Convention in Louisville,
Ky. Members of the team, from left, are Liz Tully, Beth Hafer, C.J. Chesnet, and George
Loef. The team was accompanied by their adviser/coach, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Freder-

special part of the conference as
was a special concert by The
Wilkinsons and Toby Keith.
They were able to attend a pre
sentation on hypnotism by
Chuck Milligan, a nationally
known hypnotist. They also at
tended the Parliamentary Proce
dure awards banquet.

Heather Hawkins, Sarah Krall,
and Eric Rheinheimer competed
in the parliamentary procedure
contest at the National FFA
Convention. The team placed in
the bronze bracket and received
individual medals and a team
plaque.

Attends Fall
Leadership Conference
Recently the Cedar Crest FFA
attended the Fall Leadership
Conference at Penn State.
First-year participants were
Travis Krall, Kyle Seyfert, Sa
mantha Shepler, and Sara Tribi
oli. They experienced workshops
to help them communicate better
with each other. The experience
also helped them develop leader
ship as an FFA member.
The purpose of the workshops
were to encourage the new mem
bers to get involved in the FFA
and begin to make a difference in
their chapter. They also heard
national FFA officers speak on
leadership.
Second-year participants were
Chet Brubaker and Beth Kreid
er. They also attended work
shops, not only for communica
tion skills, but to develop
leadership qualities as well. The
Pennsylvania state FFA officers
worked with them to help com
plete assigned tasks and develop
qualities that an FFA officer
should have.
They participated in various
ice-breaker games and set indi
vidual goals for themselves in
hopes that they too can make a
difference.

Students To Host
Christmas At Bear Creek
The Elizabethtown FFA stu
dents will host the third annual
Christmas at Bear Creek.
Festivities will include many
fun activities for all ages, such as
a hayride, petting zoo, Santa
Claus, Sugarland Express train
ride, Santa’s kitchen, gift shop,
and lots of lights and decora
tions.
The activities are scheduled at
the Bear Creek farm, located be
hind the Elizabethtown Brethren
in Christ Church on East High
Street before the overpass.
The celebration will be Friday,
Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 from
5 p.m.-9 p.m.

Manor FFA Receives National FFA
Meats Technology And Evaluation Award
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Members of the Pennsylvania state
FFA meats technology and evaluation team were recently
awarded a bronze emblem in the national event. Winners
were announced at the annual awards breakfast in con
junction with the 73rd National FFA Convention in Louis
ville, Ky. Team members were from left, Ryan Hoover,
Anne Dearolf, Robert Garrett, and Lamar Stoner. The
team was accompanied by their adviser, Carole Fay of
Miilersville.

Breakfast Tour Is Dec. 10
LANCASTER (Lancaster Co.)
The Arc of Lancaster County
will host the sixth annual Holi
day Bed and Breakfast Tour on
Sunday, Dec. 10, from 1-6 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will help
to provide support services for
children and adults with mental
retardation and their families.
Guests will have the opportu
nity to tour some of the most
beautiful inns in Lancaster
County. Participating inns in
