Brandston 9F83 Hawk claimed grand champion bull honors.
March 2000 bull calf sired by Rito 9F83 of SHII Fullback first
won junior bull calf champion. Jodi Carpenter, Mount Airy, Md.,
owns the winning entry.
S R S Lucys Quality 8110 claimed the reserve grand
champion female title at the 2000 Tennessee State Fair
Angus Show, Sept. 10 in Nashville, Tenn. Sonya’Smith,
Lebanon Tenn., and Clark Farms, Hustontown, Pa., own
the February 2000 daughter of V D A R Lucys Boy that first
won junior heifer calf champion. Bruce Kiesewetter,
Maquon, 111., evaluated the 61 entries.
Mandy Richardson, Louisa, Va., led Champion Hill Geor
gina 1693 to grand champion female honors at the 2000
Eastern National Livestock Angus Show, Sept. 23 in Ti
monium, Md. The July 1999 daughter of Leachman Sau
gahatchee 3000 C first topped the intermediate division.
Tim Loudon, Creston, lowa, evaluated the 77 entries.

Angus Show, Sept. 24 in Timonium, Md. Champion Hill
Travlin Boy is a May 1999 son off G D A R Traveler 044. Jim
Gillooly, Washington, Ind., Judged the 60 entries.
Justin Conover, Craryville, N.Y., led Sir Wms Jestress
809 D to grand champion female at the 2000 New York
State Fair Junior Angus Show, Aug. 29 in Syracuse, N.Y.
The September 1998 daughter of Leachman Explorer first
topped the senior division.
Fairfield Lady Rachel 809 claimed grand champion cow
calf pair honors at the 2000 New York State Fair Junior
Angus Show, Aug. 29 in Syracuse, N.Y. Austin Mort, Ghent,
N.Y., owns the January 1998 daughter of Sitz Traveler
8180. An April 2000 daughter of Sitz Traveler 043 com
pletes the winning pair. Robert Groom, Lyons, N.Y., Judged
the 27 head of Angus.
Champion Hill Georgina 1693 claimed grand champion
female honors at the 2000 Eastern National Livestock
Junior Angus Show, Sept. 24 in Timonium, Md. Mandy

.UNIVERSITY PARK
(Centre Co.) The 41st Annual
Pennsylvania State 4-H Horse
Show was conducted Oct. 27-29
at the Farm Show Complex in
Harrisburg.
4-H members from 62 coun
ties participated in this year’s
show.
A total of 982 youth and 1,044
horses competed in 43 perform
ance and 63 production classes
after qualifying at local and dis
trict shows.
Events included halter, show
manship, equitation, pleasure,
jumping, driving, reining, west
ern riding, timed events and a
therapeutic riding division for
riders with disabilities.
Twenty-four youth took part
in the second Annual Pennsyl
vania State 4-H Model Horse
Show, which gives 4-H members
the chance to learn and perfect
the hobby of collecting and
showing model horses. The
model horse program is ideal for
members who may not be able to
own and show live horses.
Highlights were the recogni
tion ceremony, including pres
entation of the 2000
Pennsylvania 4-H Horse Pro
gram Outstanding Member
awards, the Equine Educational
Exhibit awards, and the Good
Housekeeping Award. Other ac
tivities included educational and
commercial exhibits, and a
dance for exhibitors and 4-H
members.
Julia Polka of Westmoreland
County received the 4-H Horse
Program Outstanding Member
Award, which recognizes leader
ship ability, project work, and
participation in local, county,
district, and state activities. She
received a saddle donated by
Smucker’s Harness Shop of
Narvon.
Four finalists received halters
and leads donated by Wengers
Saddlery of York Springs. The
finalists were Jaclyn Belczyk of
Eric County, Tabitha Eimer
brink of York County, Arlea
May of Warren County, and
Kate Semmens of Montgomery
County.
For the eighth year, county 4-
H clubs displayed their horse
manship knowledge through
equine educational exhibits. The
29 exhibits were judged on edu
cational content and equine
facts. York County was named
grand champion. A trophy do
nated by Hoy’s Trophies and
Awards of Export wifi reside in
the county for one year. Blair
County was named reserve
champion. Wyoming County
earned third place.

for one year. Berks County was
named reserve champion. Fay
ette County earned third place.
Bob Calvert, Penn State coop
erative extension agent in
County for 34 years, and
Tatty Kelly, volunteer leader in
Westmoreland County for 27
ye&cs, received service awards.

rolled\in 4-H horse projects in
Pennsylvania.
