830-Lancaster Farming, Saturday, November 25, 2000 Sale Reports MENEAR AND STAUFFER ESTATE SALE A two-day sale at the Horst Auction Center, 50 Durlach Road, Ephrata, ended Saturday with a benefit for the Lancaster County Historical Soci ety. Friday, a collection of antique dolls was auc tioned off for Dorothy S. Menear of Hummels town. These included two small soldier dolls, $1,350 and $1,050; a small bisque-head doll house doll, $875; an Av erill bisque-head doll, $700; a Simon-and- Halbig bisque-head doll, $825; a French fashion doll, $1,050; an Ideal Shirley Temple doll, $500; three Kescner baby dolls, $2,250, $725, and $450; a papier-mache head doll, $475; and a decorated doll sled, $575. Saturday, antiques be longing to the estate of the Stauffer family of Lime Spring Farm, Lan caster, were sold to bene fit the county Historical Society. The furniture, china and glassware were part of the estate of the late Sarah Ann, Ger trude Frantz, and Charles Frantz Stauffer. Furniture on the block included a Chippendale highboy, $6,700; a canopy bed, $2,700; a red Windsor settee, $1,550; a Hepplewhite sideboard, $1,200; a Sheraton inlaid card table, $1,050; a set of shield dining room chairs, $200; a pair of Victorian side chairs, $650; and a Victorian sofa, $1,050. Dinnerware and lamps on the block included a 24-piece Kirk and Sons sterling silver dessert bowl set, $2,250; a 50- piece Wedgewood china set, $750; two Shelly china breakfast sets, $BOO and $625; a set of 16 Royal Derby china plates, $800; two pairs of Venetian glass candle sticks, $1,850 and $1,800; a Venetian glass flower compote, $1,700; a pair of Venetian glass com potes, $140; 13 Venetian glass goblets, $160; a 40- piece set of cobalt stemmed glassware, $800; and 12 champagne glasses, $1,600. Also sold were: a pair of crystal candelabrum, $1,400; an edged glass hurricane shade, $1,650; a 40-piece sterling silver tea set, $700; a pair of art nouveau boudoir lamps, $425; 12 sterling silver plates, $1,900; a tollware card shuttle, $600; and a floral hooked rug, $675. The auction was con ducted by Horst Auc tioneers and cataloged by Clarance E. Spohn. There were 330 regis tered bidders over both days of the sale.
