Wheat bids were mostly higher after
good overnight export demand, includ
ing a substantial CCC donation pur
chase underpinned bids. More planting
delays across Oklahoma and Texas also
supported bids. Corn bids were lower for
the third consecutive day, pressured by
sluggish export interest and profit taking
on the Board. Soybean bids took another
jump higher with support stemming
from recent strength in bean meal and
reports that China purchased 115,000
metric tons of beans for 20001, but noth
ing has been announced. Wheat steady
to 1 cent higher except Kansas City 1
cent lower Corn steady to 4 cents lower
Sorghum 2 cents lower. Soybeans 3 to 8
cents higher.

Compared to last week: Feeder cattle
and calves steady. Demand good for
both classes with active trade Quality
plain through attractive.
Calves in slightly thin to fleshy condi
tions with more unweaned fleshy calves
than last week. Feeder cattle in slightly
thin to moderate flesh conditions.
Weigh-ups average. Cool, often over
cast, early November weather has
slowed fall wheat growth but this having
no effect on calf demand. Yearling cattle
supplies remain tighter than normal.
Fall season ordinarily has least yearlings
of the year but this season has considera
bly less. Slaughter cows 2.00-3.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls I.SO higher. Demand
good from packer buyers. Demand very
good for thin cows to graze. Despite
sharp increase m money, packers lost the
majority of lean cows to grazing pro
grams. Live slaughter cow prices are
4.00-5.00 higher than this time last year
while slaughter cattle prices on hoof only
1.00 higher. This disparity reflects the
lighter number of cows moving to
market during this fall season. Total of
510 cows and bulls sold with 33 percent
to packers. Receipts this week 11,135;
last week 7180; last year 11,986.
Supply consisted of 37 percent calves
and yearlings over 600 lbs; 58 percent
calves under 600 lbs; 5 percent cows and
bulls. Heifers comprised 45 percent of
feeder and calf supply.
