Combine mystery, action, and fun, and elementary school chil dren grasp nutrition facts and fitness with ease. A play called “The Prince of the Pyramid” is performing in schools throughout the state and recently appeared at Clay Ele mentary School. The touring group, based in Minneapolis, Minn., called Na tional Theatre For Children said its purpose is to teach, entertain, and inspire. An archeologist and a mummy are the main characters of the play, which is set in the fictitious town of Oak Grove. Residents awake one morning to find a giant pyramid in the middle of the town square. Does the mummy have some thing to do with the missing food and the mysterious pyramid? The students help solve the mystery while learning about the necessity of eating five fruits and vegetables daily and the part good nutrition and exercise pays in our lives. Some of the facts include such statements as the following: “Did you know that 90 percent of your bone mass is developed between the ages of 1-18?” Dairy Council Middle Atlantic funded by local dairy farmers provided the program to promote health and awareness through nutrition education.
