Animals At Beaver Community Fair

Members of the Happy Valley 4-
H Livestock Club, Backyard
Bunnies 4-H Club, Selinsgrove
FFA, Middleburg FFA, and
West Snyder FFA sold their
market project animals at the
annual Youth Livestock Fair in
September during the 72nd
Annual Beaver Community
Fair.
A total of 140 lots were sold
on the auction, including nine
meat pens of rabbits, nine single
fryer rabbits, 35 markets lambs,
75 market hogs, and 12 market
steers.
Grand champion meat pen of
rabbits was owned by Jeffrey
Biddinger of Middleburg.
Kreamer Feed Store purchased
the meat pen for $350. Owner of
the reserve champion meat pen
was Matthew Shea, Mt. Pleasant
Mills. Middleburg Livestock
Auction purchased the reserve
champion meat pen for $3OO.
Jeffrey is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. David Waltz. Matthew is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian
Shea of Mt. Pleasant Mills. Both
are members of the Backyard
Bunnies 4-H Club.
Grand champion single fryer
rabbit was owned by Jeffrey
Biddinger and purchased by
Shaffer’s Rabbit Farm of Free
burg for $175. Reserve cham
pion single fryer was exhibited
by Matthew Shea. The success
ful bidder was Bison Farm 11 of
Richfield with a final bid of
$2lO.
Hannah Etzler, daughter of
Jim and Deb Etzler, Beaver
town, exhibited the 134-pound
grand champion market lamb.
Her lamb sold for $7OO to M. L.
Bowersox Livestock, Winfield.
Hannah is a member of the West
Snyder FFA. Brandon Herman,
Beavertown, exhibited the 130-
pound reserve champion market
lamb. Middleburg Livestock
Auction was the successful
bidder with the final bid of $475.
Brandon is the son of Steve and
Tammy Herman. He is a
member of the Happy Valley 4-
H Club and the West Snyder
FFA Chapter.
Grand champion market hog
was exhibited by Roger Wilt, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wilt,
Beaver Springs. The 253-pound
Yorkshire sold to Middleburg
Livestock Auction for $675. Wilt
is a member of the West Snyder
FFA. Reserve champion market
hog, a 274-pound crossbred hog,
was exhibited by Tyler Davis,
Beavertown. Tyler is a member
of the Happy Valley 4-H Live
stock Club and the son of Bob
and Gwen Davis. Tyler’s hog
was purchased by Glenn Wiand
and Ken Fetterolf of Keystone
Show Pigs for $BOO.
Grand champion market steer
was exhibited by Brandon
Herman. The 1.120-nound steer
was sold to Roger and Terri
Moyer of Moyer’s Garage for
$2,400. Alan Bauman, member
of the Selinsgrove FFA, exhib
ited the 1,165-pound reserve
champion market steer. Hoss’s
Steak and Sea House was the
successful bidder and paid
$l,lOO for the reserve.
