Mostly prices were unchanged on
whites, higher on yolks, and unchanged
to higher on whole when compared to a
week earlier. The market tone was fully
steady to firm on yolks, steady on whole,
and unsettled to about steady on whites.
Demand was slow to moderate with best
interest centered on irregular offerings
of yolks. Other supplies were adequate
for current needs. Liquid and frozen eggs
(ingredients included) processed under
federal inspection in the Eastern region
for the week ending October 21, 2000
were 5 % more than last week, but 5 %
percent less than a year ago.

In Philadelphia, prices were un
changed to 2 cents higher for the larger
sizes and unchanged on mediums. Prices
paid to producers in New England were
2 cents higher for extra large and large
and unchanged on the balance of sizes.
In Boston, prices were unchanged. The
market tone was fully steady. Demand
was mostly moderate, best where fea
tured. Supplies were adequate to close
for lading needs. Breaking stock sup
plies were usually about adequate for the
light to moderately good demand. Light
type fowl were sufficient for processing
requirements.

birds was fairly good on the well bal
anced to tight supply of 3.0 and 3.5
pound sizes. 2.5 pound and heavier
weights were fully sufficient at most
plants. Live supplies were moderate;
weights remained mixed in range of light
a heavy Processing schedules were mod
erate to moderately heavy. Less than
trucklot asking prices were unchanged
at 55 to 69 cents. Trade sentiment was
fully steady to firm. In the parts com
plex, drumsticks and thighs were well
cleared at some plants. Tenders were
readily available. Other items were gen
erally noted as fully adequate.
