Compared to last week; Feeder steers
steady. Steer calves 2.00-4.00 higher.
Heifers over SSO lbs steady to 3.00
higher; under 550 lbs 3.00-5.00 higher.
Demand very good for feeder cattle and
steer calves. Demand very good for light
heifers suitable for early wheat pastures.
Demand moderate for heifers over 550
lbs. Some cattle have been turned-out on
a few wheat fields in south central and
eastern areas of the state. Large fields to
the north and western parts of Okla
homa continue to improve and could be
ready for grazing by latter part of No
vember. Rains have been ample since
mid October with Pacific storm pattern
continuing. Qualify of calves plain
through attractive. Quality of feeder
cattle plain to average. Weigh-ups aver
age to full.
Flesh conditions medium to fleshy,
few thin. Slaughter cows and bulls
steady to 1.00 higher. Packer demand
good. Demand also good for cows re
turning to the country. Recent rains

tions and reduced cow receipts in Okla
homa and Texas. This reduction in
supply has given a boost to slaughter
cow prices that is unusual during culling
period of the year. Total of 415 cows and
bulls sold with 58 percent to packers.
Receipts this week 7,050; last week
7837; last year 6352.
Supply consisted of 44 percent calves
and yearlings over 600 lbs; 50 percent
calves under 600 lbs; 6 percent cows and
bulls. Heifers comprised 37 percent of
feeder and calf supply.
