4’Hers Exhibit Animals
At Middletown Grange Fair
MIDDLETOWN (Bucks Co.)
Bucks County 4-H’ers re
cently exhibited their rabbit,
sheep and dairy projects at the
2000 Middletown Grange Fair.
Twelve breeds of sheep were
judged on Friday by Bob Leib,
Mechanicsburg. Alyssa Poor
man, New Britain, won cham
pion ewe of show with her
Cheviot. Reserve ewe of show
went to Kyle Feldman, Wrights
town, with his Dorset. Alyce
Simons, Ottsville, won cham
pion ram of show with her

Pa. Sheep Breeder Captures Top
Awards In Big E Rambouillet Show
WEST SPRINGFIELD,
Mass. Doris Powell, Rome,
Pa., not only won every class she
entered in the Rambouillet
sheep show here at The Big E,
she took home all the champion
rosettes and the premier breeder
and premier exhibitor banners
as well.
Powell’s two senior ram lambs
were named champion ram and
reserve champion ram by Judge
Phil Kin of Upper Sandusky,
Ohio.
Later in the show, it was the
first-place yearling ewe that won
champion ewe honors, and the
first-place senior ewe lamb that
won the reserve champion ewe
trophy.
The show attracted exhibitors
from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and
New York.

shown at the Fair. Competition

won the good housekeeping
award for large herds and
Amanda Symonds, Jerry Krone
and Tom Haldeman, Doyles*
town, won the good housekeep
ing award for small herds.
Judges were Chip Decker and
Yvette Francisco, Oxford, NJ.
There were three goat shows
held at the Grange Fair. In the
dairy goat show, Chris
McGinnis was the champion
showman and fitter. Amy Sho
lenberger was the reserve show
man and fitter. The judge was
Crystal Kloiber, Bath, PA. In
the Cashmere goat show, both
the animals and their fleeces
were judged.
Kim Kens, Quarkertown,
judged the Pygmy goat show.
