Summary
St. Joseph, MO
October 18,2000
Report Supplied By USDA
Wheat and corn bids were mixed
again today. Active harvest and wheat
planting pushed bids lower while im
proved export interest and rainfall fore
cast for the south Plains limited declines.
Soybean bids were higher again, sup
ported by improved export interest.
Wheat mostly 2 to 7 cents lower except
Portland steady to 1 cent higher. Corn
mixed. Sorghum 2 cents lower. Soybeans
steady to 4 cents higher.
Indications that Taiwan bought 5.6
million bushels of spring, hard red
winter, and white wheat for the US over
night, limited declines in wheat bids. Ad
ditional strength came from forecasts
calling for rainfall in the southern Plains
area over the next few days. Light profit
taking was noted on the Boards.
Corn bids moved higher due to im
proved overnight export business. How
ever, continued active harvest limited
gains in corn and soybean bids. There
were reports that South Korea bought
Chinese corn for 2001 but this has not
been confirmed. Small overnight bean
sale to Taiwan was supportive along
with firmer soybean meal trade.
