Corn bids also gained ground on trade expectations ahead of USDA reports and overnight export sale to Taiwan. Sharp declines were noted in soybean pits due to rapid harvest. Wheat 1 to 2 cents higher. Corn steady to 5 cents higher. Sorghum 2 cents higher. Soybeans 5 to 11 cents lower. Export sales remain slow this week for wheat and reports that the US lost part of the Algerian wheat tender, boosted bids. Dry weather con- tinues in the southern Plains, despite forecasts for possible moisture this week. Emergence is behind most places due to the late plantings and Oklahoma shows only 31 percent of the crop planted while Kansas is at 49 percent complete. Corn bids were mostly higher in antic ipation for tomorrow’s USDA ending stocks report. Most traders expect a cut in stock estimates. However, active harvest pressure with 50 percent of the crop in bins, limited gains. Taiwan’s corn purchase overnight offered strength to bids. Higher soybean bids yesterday were erased today with lowest declines since August reported. Rapid harvest progress created some profit taking as 58 percent of the crop is out of fields. Lack of fresh export news also weighed on bids.
