Agriculture Secretary Hosts
Farm-City Day Festivities
HARRISBURG (Dauphin
Co.) Agriculture Secretary
Samuel E. Hayes Jr. welcomed
more than 2,000 schoolchildren
to the fourth annual Farm-City
Day Celebration at the Farm
Show Complex on behalf of
Gov. Tom Ridge.
“This fourth annual Farm-
City Day is the most exciting to
date,” Hayes said. “Today,
these children will experience
Pennsylvania Agriculture first
hand as they spend the day en
joying our interactive displays,
farm animals and exhibits that
explain how agriculture is an
important part of their daily
lives.”
Hayes said more than 2,000
children, from more than 25
schools, are taking part in the
day’s activities. He said the chil
dren will learn how to milk a
cow, traverse the outdoor hay
maze, explore the “Bat House,”
see bees making honey, feed and
pet farm animals, and watch
baby chicks hatch.
