CATTLE; Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers sold fully
steady with some weakness noted late in
the week. Local demand and supply
seem evenly matched. Western prices
advanced .50 on a live basis and 1.00 on
a dressed basis, but continues to trail the
October futures. Midwest feedlots sold
cattle from 65.00-67.00 live and 105.00-
106.00 dressed. Local Holstein steers and
slaughter heifers closed fully steady.
Slaughter bulls finished the week steady
to firm and slaughter cows closed steady.
Slaughter bulls finished steady to 1.00
lower. Supply included 33 percent
slaughter steers, 5 percent slaughter
heifers, 40 percent cows, 6 percent bulls
with the balance feeders.
