Majority prices were unchanged on
whites, but usually higher on balance of
items when compared to a week earlier.
The market tone was fully steady on
yolks, steadier on whole, and unsettled
to about steady on whites. Demand was
light to good with yolks receiving the
best interest. Supplies were generally ad
equate for current needs but at some lo
cations offerings were held with
increased confidence. Liquid and frozen
eggs (ingredients included) processed
under federal inspection in the Eastern
region for the week ending September
23, 2000 were unchanged from last
week, but 11 percent less than the same
week last year.

In Philadelphia, prices were un
changed to 1 cent higher for the larger
sizes and unchanged to 2 cents higher on
mediums. In Boston, prices were un
changed to 1 cent higher for the larger
sizes and unchangted on mediums. In
New England, prices were one cent
higher for large and unchanged on the
remainder of prices. The market tone
was steady to fully steady. Demand was
generally moderate and best where fea
tures were available. Supplies were ade
quate for current needs. Breaking stock
offerings were usually sufficient for the
moderate to good demand. Light type
fowl were adequate for processing sched
ules.

Trucklot buying interest was light and
unaggressive as dealers cautiously
guaged market developments. Offerings
of bone-in breasts were at least adequate,
but had continued to move into a better
balance. Boneless skinless breasts were
fully adequate and attractively priced in
an attempt to stimulate additional
movement. Dark meat items were read
ily available. Wings continued to see
good movement. The market tone was
fully steady on wings, cautiously steady
on the balance.
