Movement of ready-to-cook whole
birds was fair to good. Seller offerings
for prompt delivery were in good bal
ance to tight. Buying interest for later
shipments was slow in developing. Live
supplies were mostly moderate, weights
were desirable to heavy. Processing
schedules were moderately heavy. Less
than trucklot asking prices were 1 cent
higher at 55 to 69 cents. Trade sentiment
was mostly firm. In the parts complex,
wings cleared to an active buying inter
est. Leg quarters were noted as clearing
well. Breast items were adequate to fully
adequate with supplies of bone-in in the
closer balance.

tions. The market tone was steady.
Demand into all channels ranged light to
moderate, better where features were in
progress. Supplies were adequate to fully
adequate for trading needs. Breaking
stock supplies from regular sources were
sufficient for the light demand. Light
type fowl were generally adequate for
slaughter requirements.
Philadelphia: prices to retailers, sales
to volume buyers, USDA Grade A and
Grade A white eggs in cartons, delivered

Prices on salted yolks were mixed, but
generally unchanged to higher. The bal
ance of categories was unchanged. The
market tone was about steady. Demand
was light to moderate with yolks receiv
ing the best interest. Supplies were ade
quate for current needs. Liquid and
frozen eggs (ingredients included) pro
cessed under federal inspection in the
Eastern region for the week ending Sep
tember 9, 2000 were 7 percent less than
last week and 2 percent less than the
same week last year.
