CATTLE; Compared to Tuesday, the
bulk of the slaughter steers sold mostly
steady, with high Choice and Prime
quality selling mostly .50 to as much as
1.00 higher than Tuesday’s lower prices.
The market was spotty with light
demand for the plainer cattle, along with
instances of active trading for the fancier
types. Holstein steers and slaughter heif
ers sold fully steady. The slaughter cows
sold .50-1 00 lower and bulls were 1.00-
2 00 lower Supply included 37 percent
slaughter steers and 44 percent slaughter
cows.

CATTLE: Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers ended the
week mixed. The fancy high Choice and
Prime quality steers sold mostly steady,
with average Choice and plainer steers
closing weak to mostly 1.00 lower. Excel
lent Kosher demand for the top quality
cattle late in the week was responsible
for the split market. The futures market
jumped on Thursday and helped West
ern prices close steady, after minimal
trading at lower levels earlier in the
week. Major feedlot areas sold fat cattle
