including 5 to 6 its. of dry baled hay.
• High herd average for milk production -
19,600 lb, with high protein test and high
butterfat test - 5.1%
“When I do the feeding I like to
load the hay into the mixer early in
the mix. That allows the hay to be
processed to a shorter fiber length.
When Jim does the feeding he loads
the hay in last, he likes to see a
longer fiber. Either way the cows eat
it. We clean very little out of the feed
bunk.”
