GLANCE
In Philadelphia, prices were un
changed to 2 cents lower on the larger
sizes and unchanged for mediums, in
boston, prices were unchanged to 1 cent
lower on the larger sizes and unchanged
for mediums. In New England, prices
were 2 cents lower for the larger sizes
and unchanged on the smaller sizes. The
market tone was barely steady to in
stances weak for the heavier sizes and
generally steady on the lighter weight
eggs. Demand slowed in some areas and
ranged light to moderate, mostly fair.
Supplies were readily available on the
larger sizes and adequate on the smaller
sizes. Breaking stock supplies ere more
than adequate to available and demand
for additional eggs was very light. Light
type fowl were short to adequate for
trading needs.
Philadelphia: prices to retailers, sales
to volume buyers, USDA Grade A and
Grade A white eggs in cartons, delivered

Prices were generally higher on all
products, however whites were only
slightly higher compared to last week.
Demand had slowed this week and
ranged light to good. Yolks continued to
receive the best interest. Supplies were
mostly adequate. Trade sentiment was
fully steady to firm on yolks and steady
to occasionally fully steady on the bal
ance. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingred
ients included) processed under federal
inspection in the Eastern region for the
week ending August 19, 2000 were 8%
less than a week ago and 18% less than
the same week last year.
