    Somerset Fair Dairy Show

MEYERSDALE (Somerset
Co.) Wendy Rose’s 4-year-old
Jersey cow, on Aug. 23, was
named Supreme Champion at
the Somerset County Fair Dairy
Show in addition to being the
grand champion in the Jersey
breed and having the best udder
in the class.
Type and showmanship judge,
Patty McMurray who lives in
Eighty-Four, Washington Coun
ty, said that Roses Pepper Magic,
a daughter out of HL Duncan
Pepper and Roses Hermitage
Missy, could handle the most
competition of any cow there.
“She is the most correct cow,”
McMurray said about Magic.
Wendy Rose is from Hol-
Isopple and a member of Stitch-
N-Squirt 4-H Club. Shallow Run
Farm, New Florence, was the
cow’s breeder.
Jennifer Stahl, Somerset, had
the reserve champion Jersey with
another 4-year-old in Field of
Dreams Erin, a daughter out of
Molly Brook Brass Top and SS
Lester Silver Mickie B. The
breeder was Rebecca Dugan
from Danville.
A junior 2-year-old owned by
Justin Rohrbaugh, Somerset, was
grand champion in the Holstein
breed. Rohryl Judge Marvelous
is out of Windcrest Leadman
Judge-ET and Rohryl Boggs
Mary. Breeder was Justin Rohr
baugh, Somerset.

Gr-Victorys Lena. Ernest Sla
baugh, Meyersdale was the
breeder.
The reserve champion Guern
sey also belonged to Justin Kauf
man of Friedens. It was a fall
calf born Nov. 14, 1999 out of
Coulee Crest Smokey Garwood-
ET and Twinlite Etta Ellamae.
Elmer Yoder, Meyersdale was
the breeder of Just In Garwood
Elly.
Meredith Murray, Salisbury,
had the Milking Shorthorn grand
champion and reserve grand
champion with a set of spring
yearling twins. Cranapple’s
Chocolate-Twin, born April 20,
1999 out of Kuszmar Affairs
Othello Tudor Hall Cranapple’s
was grand while her sister, Cra
napple’s Cherry-Twin was re
serve. Breeder was Meredith
Murray of Salisbury.

neysville, West Virginia. For the
19-year-old, who had to watch
from a wheelchair while nursing
several broken bones from a fall
in July, it was a bittersweet vic
tory.
Justin Kaufman was the
grand champion showman, also
intermediate champion show
man. Senior champion show
man was Stephanie Hartman
and junior champion showman
was Seth Foreman.
