Jersey Takes Top Honors At Kutztown

A Jersey took top placing
among quality classes at the
recent Kutztown fair’s colored
breed dairy show.
Overall grand champion went
to Jill Neiman’s 2-year-old
“Bayberry.” The animal’s bal
ance, style, snug udder, dairy
ness and capacity caught
Wood’s eye. Neiman owns eight
Jerseys on her home farm in
Fleetwood. The family milks 30
cows, with approximately half of
the herd consisting of Jerseys.
Neiman, who also shows
sheep, goats, and beef animals,
plans to participate at Kempton,
Reading, Oley, and Allentown
fairs besides the upcoming dis
trict and state shows.
Chris Wood of Littlestown
judged the colored breeds show.
Wood and her husband Steve
own Penn Gate Holsteins and
show their cattle at state and na
tional events where they have
received several awards.
After participating on the
state 4-H judging team Wood
attended Virginia Tech and
