CATTLE; Compared to Thursday;
slaughter steers and heifers were not
well tested, but a higher undertone was
evident. Slaughter cows sold mostly 1.00
higher with the leanest cows as much as
1.50 higher. A fairly plain test of slaugh
ter bulls sold steady. Supply included 9
percent slaughter steers and 51 percent
slaughter cows.

CATTLE; Compared to Thursday,
slaughter steers and heifers sold 1.00-
1.50 higher. The higher prices were es
tablished early on Monday and carried
through the end of Tuesday’s good offer
ing. A light run of Holstein steers sold
weak. Slaughter cows were active with
the fleshier cows (less than 85 pet lean)
selling steady to 1.00 higher, while the
leaner types traded 1.00-1.50 higher.
Slaughter bulls were fully steady. Supply
included 44 percent slaughter steers and
47 percent slaughter cows.

vealers were fairly active and sold 10.00-
15.00 higher. Demand for Holstein bulls
to place in special-fed veal bams re
mains at a high level and prices were
steady to 5.00 higher than last week.
Holstein heifers were also active and
traded steady to 10.00 higher, except for
weights under 80 lbs which turned
sharply lower. Supply included 667 head
in the State graded sale and around 95
percent of supply returned to feed.

CATTLE: Compared to Tuesday,
slaughter steers and heifers sold .50
higher in active trading to end the week
1.50-2.00 higher. Notice of the higher
market earlier in the week brought a
very good offering of top quality cattle
out of the woodwork. Holstein steers
sold steady and failed to see the price ad
vance that the beef-type cattle un
derwent this week. Slaughter cows sold
.50 lower, but still closed steady to 1.00
higher than last week. Slaughter bulls
traded 1.00-1.50 higher. Supply included
42 pet slaughter steers and 41 pet cows.
