sluggish as dealers purchased to cover
most immediate needs. Offerings of
boneless-skinless breasts were usually
available, however, bone-in breasts were
no more than adequate to well balanced.
Drums were fully adequate and the bal
ance of items were at least sufficient.
Movement through retail and distribu
tive channels continued slow to fair. The
market tone remained no better than

Prices were unchanged to higher on
the larger sizes in the Eastern region.
Otherwise, prices were unchanged. The
market tone was steady to fully steady.
Demand ranged light to good, mostly
fair to good, and was best where features
were in progress. Supplies were gener
ally adequate on all sizes.
Breaking stock supplies continued
tight to adequate in the Midwest region
and usually adequate in the Eastern
region. Breakers were bidding at higher
levels for additional eggs in anticipation
of market increases. Light type hens re
mained sufficient for processing sched
ules.

Prices on whole and sugared yolks
were unchanged to higher, whites were
unchanged to lower and salted yolks
were mixed. Demand ranged light to
good and was best for yolk products.
Supplies were generally adequate. The
market tone was steady to fully steady
on whole and yolks and was about
steady on whites. Liquid and frozen eggs
(ingredients included) processed under
federal inspection in the Eastern region
for the week ending July 29, 2000 were
9% less than last week and 3% less than
the same week last year.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole
birds was generally noted as light and
typical of mid-week activity. Offerings
again varied by size, but were fully ade
quate overall. Live supplies were mostly
moderate; weights were light to heavy
mostly desirable to heavy. Processing
schedules were moderately heavy. Less
than trucklot asking prices were un
changed at 46 to 63 cents. Trade senti
ment was about steady. Boneless skinless
breasts were irregularly balanced. Bone
in breast were clearing satisfactorily at
most points. Leg items were at least ade
quate with drumsticks offered at highly
competive prices. Wings were fully ade
quate to ample.
