    Ag Showcase Puts Competing
Equipment In Same Field

FAIR HILL, Md. - The 20th
annual opportunity to see com
peting models and makes of
farm tractors and equipment in
competition side by side came
again Tuesday. Ag Showcase
Day at Cecil County Fair in
Maryland, was held at Fair Hill
Farms with the show put on by
Coopers from Cecilton, Hoobers
from Middletown, and Ag In
dustrial from Rising Sun.
In addition, educational in
formation was given such as
how to weight tractors for best
performance and the opportuni
ties for ethanol fuel. A repre
sentative of each dealership
gave the tractor weight informa
tion. Robert Dinneen, vice presi
dent, Renewable Fuels
Association, gave the ethanol
presentation. Dinneen is a lob
byist in Washington DC for the
fuels association.

tive in fossil fuel that is showing
MILK. IT DOES A BODY GOOD.
up in the nation’s waterways,
Dinneen said the future of
ethanol is bright. Manufacturing
capacity has increased mostly
from farmer owned coopera
tives. Since the nation’s depend
ence on foreign oil has not
diminished but increased in the
last 10 years, we are still quite
dependent on foreign imports.
Dinneen said the Northeast may
also experience more shortages
and price increases because we
have only a two-day reserve.
“It makes sense to use a do
mestic renewable fuel such as
ethanol,” Dinneen said. “And
this is good for farm prices. The
future for ethanol is bright.”
Other sponsors listed on the
program included Farm Credit,
Sam Orr, Mike Scheeler, and
Southern States. Equipment
shown included round balers
and grabbers, planters, tillers,
hay making equipment, and
tractors. David Wilson, Cecil
County cooperative extension,
was master of ceremonies.
