Verbyla Brothers Farm
One of three farms farmed by the Verbyla brothers, this 120-acre
farm is owned by Mark and Gail Verbyla of Sweet Valley. They milk 65
head of Holsteins and own 45 replacements. Mark also raises corn,
hay, and oats on his home farm. Maintenance work for all three Verbyla
farms, which include Mark’s farm, his brother’s dairy operation in Co
lumbia County, and another crop farm in Luzerne County, is conducted
on this farm. Recognized two years in a row for his Chesapeake Bay ef
forts, Mark was named Luzerne County Conservation District’s Coo
perator of the Year in 1998 and the Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm
in 1999.
