C. Arden & Caroline Landis
The name “Green Pastures Farm” suits this 130-acre farm well. C.
Arden and Caroline Landis rent the property in Kirkwood and graze
their 70-cow herd on 125 acres of pasture ground. C. Arden and Caro
line have three grown daughters and an adopted daughter, Debra, who
is 15. They also are raising their niece, 13-year-old Kristi Prouty. The
Landis family has been farming the farm for five years and has a sea
sonal, organic, grass-based herd. Their herd is made up of primarily
Holsteins with some Jerseys and crossbreeds. The milk from the or
ganic dairy is shipped to Horizon Dairy through the Landis’ coopera
tive, Mt. Joy Cooperative.
