Daily National
Grain Market
Summary
St. Joseph, MO
July 19,2000
Report Supplied By USDA
Daily National Grain Market Sum
mary
Wheat and corn bids were mixed but
soybean bids were lower, today. Some
overnight export sales and fund buying
on the Board offered strength to grain
bids. However, active wheat harvest and
continued good growing weather in the
Midwest and Corn Belt, weighed on
bids. Wheat 2 cents lower to 9 cents
higher. Corn 1 cent higher to 2 cents
lower. Sorghum 2 cents higher. Soybeans
steady to 7 cents lower.
Continued progress in wheat harvest
and ample supplies, undermined wheal
bids. Some strength was noted as a cor
rective move after recent declines. Fund
buying and light export interest were
also plus factors. Reports indicated
Egypt bought 145,000 metric tons of
U.S. hard red winter wheat but no offi
cial announcement was made.
Slight gains were made in corn pits
due to fair overnight sales to South
Korea and indications Mexico may be
seeking U.S. corn. Additional strength
came from reports of weather problems
in China which could possibly cut their
corn crop yield. However, favorable
growing weather and good crop condi
tions limited gains in corn and pressured
soybean bids lower. The soybean crop is
blooming and setting pods at this point.
