MEYERSDALE (Somerset
Co.) A Junior two-year-old,
on a fine July 11 summer day,
took supreme champion honors
at the Somerset County Junior
Dairy Show held at the fair
grounds.
Hillmont Stardust Nyla-ET,
born March 10, 1998 out of
Browndale Stardust and TKT
Leadman Prim also was Hol
stein breed senior champion and
grand champion for owner Juli
ana Hillegass of Berlin, who be
longs to the Milkshakers 4-H
Club.
The breeder was Kirk Hille
gass of Berlin.
Type judge Andy Foster from
Globe-Run Farms, Petersburg
said Nyla was “most correct.”
Of those shown some 88 ani
mals were qualified to move into
district competition.
“Every breed had animals
that should so well at a dist
show,” Foster observed of the
six dairy breeds exhibited. “The
animals were extremely well
presented,” he said. “You could
tell the youths did a good job of
getting them ready.”
Matt Mosholder’s four-year
old was Holstein reserve cham
pion. Mossys Astre Missy was
said to have the advantage of
height, width and angularity.
Mosholder is from Rockwood.
Meredith Murray from Salis
bury saw her spring yearling
twins take grand and reserve
champion honors in the Milking
Shorthorn breed.
Four D Trishs Sandy, owned
by Lance Bittner of Berlin, was
the grand champion Brown
Swiss. She was shown in the six
years and older class.
Reserve champion Brown
Swiss was shown by Nathan
Tressler of Rockwood. Swamp
Creek Nancy Nellie was shown
in the five-year-old class.
