July 1 was the closing for BASF AG of Ludwigshafen, Germany, taking over the Cyanamid agri cultural products business of American Home Products Cor poration (AHP), a company headquartered in Madison, N.J. This purchase, the largest ac quisition in the corporation’s history, doubles BASF’s crop protection products business and moves it up into the ranks of the world’s top three leading manufacturers of crop protec tion.
