QUESTION - Robert Shaub, 350 W. Railroad
Ave., Shrewsbury, PA 17361, needs a top to an
old parlor organ, style 100, which was manu
factured in York by the Everhart Organ and
Piano Co. The organ was purchased by Shaub’s
grandfather in 1906 for $6O on a note payable
in two years at no interest. After being around
the country for 94 years, the top was lost, but
the bottom part is back in the family. Shaub
would like to restore it with a top to match the
original one.
QUESTION Samuel Skokut, Ruffs Dale,
writes that an article stated that red clover tea
can boost immunity and ward off hay fever at
tacks. He wants to know if he can make his
own tea by clipping the red clover from the
stems, drying it, and boiling in water.
QUESTION Mike Kramer, Quakertown,
needs parts for a Van Wert model VAISOO coal
stoker. The company was from Peckville, and
he understands it went out of business in the
late 1900 s. Does anyone know a source for
parts or if the company’s parts stock was
bought by another company?

ANSWER - A man from Lititz wanted to
know of a person who could knit a sweater for
him. Thanks to a reader for suggesting he con

Rd., Ephrata. They make and sell knitted wool
en sweaters that do not become fuzzy and
balled.
ANSWER Horst Schaper, Moosup, Ct., has
a horsedrawn machine gun cart model 1917,
which needs some tender, loving care. He
wanted to know of sources that would help him
know how to repair the cart? Thanks to Vic

wants to know where purchase macadamia
nuts in the area of Martinsburg, Pa. Thanks to

company’s products to be wholesome. How
ever, do not store nutmeats without refrigera
tion, especially in the summertime.
ANSWER A. H. requested instructions for
success in growning melons, cantaloupes, zuc
chini, and other vine crops. In the past,
healthy-looking plants with fruit suddenly wilt
ed in the center and died off. Thanks to Karen
Kinnaine for writing that these plants are offen
attacted by squash borers that eat into the
parts of the vine that touch the ground near
the roots. Dust the bottoms of plants, especial
ly underneath with a powdered insect repellent
available from a garden supply store. Kinnaine
recommends a pyrethrum-based dust, which is
environmentally better than others. She also
recommends reading the article about vine
plants published in the June 3 issue of this
paper on page 87.
