Tioga County Celebrates
10th Annual Farm City Day

It was a day of awards and cele
bration as Tioga County ob
served its 10th annual Farm
City Day July 8 at Sunset Moun
tains Farm located in the rolling
hills not far from the Pennsylva
nia Grand Canyon.
It was an anniversary of an
other sort for the Lawton family,
who hosted the event.

Tuesday here at the Pennsylva
nia Department of Agriculture
(PDA).
The USDA presented certifi
cation that Pennsylvania has
now received bovine tubercu
losis (TB) “Accredited Free
State” status.

SHIPPENSBURG (Franklin
Co.) A joint venture of educa
tional activities, tours, work
shops, and exhibitions was
conducted this week at the Ship
pensburg High School.
The Pennsylvania Association
of Agricultural Educators
(PAAE) and the Pennsylvania
Young Farmers Association
(PYFA) came together for their
summer institute and confer
ence and the event really
worked well, according to plan
ning committee officials.
A special group of hands-on
educational tours were taken to
dairy, veal, and horse farms. In
addition, orchards, woodlands,
and agribusinesses were visited.
FFA Officers Scheduled To Be At Golf Outing
STEVENS (Lancaster Co.) Recently the Pennsylvania
FFA Association announced new officers for 2000-2001.

mental law, shop equipment ser
vice, judging, nutrition, welding,
and other management prac
tices.
The ag teachers elected a new
slate of officers that include
Leßoy Dreibelbis, Jr., president;
Wayn* Irish, president elect;
Thomas Richey, treasurer; Ste
phen Kline, assistant treasurer;
Gerald Reichard, executive sec
retary; and Merril Brofee, past
president.
