Thunder and Lightning!
Think of thunderstorms as Mother Earth’s air-condition
mg. Heat from Earth's surface is pumped upward into
the atmosphere where it is released, cooling the air.
Meanwhile, the rams cleanse the air and distribute much
needed water to dry areas. Imagine how different our cli
mate would be without these storms.
It's estimated that approximately 16
million thunderstorms occur worldwide
every year. The more violent ones can
carry hail, cause lightning fires, or even
turn into raging tornadoes. The Norse
god Thor, Chinese Lei Kung, and
Native American Thunderbird were all
blamed for creating thunder, but the
rams were generally welcomed.
