our youngest son. He lives on the
farm and boards heifers for sev
eral dairymen. He also has a full
time engineering job in Lancaster
County.
Over the years, I cut out news
paper articles about our children
and kept them in separate enve
lopes. This morning I reread a
few about Philip and I admit it, I
am amazed at everything that he
has done.
As the older children were in
4-H Clubs and, I was a Commu
nity Club leader for more than
20 years, he was active in 4-H for
NEVER QUITS
nine years. He traveled with
them on several exchange trips
and hosted members from other
states. One year he was Pennsyl
vania’s high individual judge in
the 4-H potato judging at Harris
burg.
When he went to Penn State
University, he was active in
many honor groups and was an
officer also. Our children were
lucky to receive many schol
arships. He was the state winner
of an agri-business careers schol
arship in the 4-H National
Awards Program.

At Penn State, he graduated
with 15 more credits than re
quired for graduation. Then he
went to the University of Wis
consin for his master’s degree in
agricultural engineering. For
three years he worked in Chicago
for Case International before
coming home to farm with his fa
ther.
At this time, he is on a long
vacation which has taken him
west to Wyoming with his fami
ly. They have a pop-up trailer
and will have many experiences
to share when they return.
