Trading started slow on weak market conditions but as buyers started to fill orders from the moderate supply, prices held steady with Tuesday’s lower market Holstein steers sold steady, but slaughter heifers were not frilly tested. Slaughter cows continued active and sold .50-1.00 higher. Interest was very good for slaughter bulls, especially for the one that trampled through the crowd, and prices were 1.00-2.00 higher. Losses came early in the week and then the market struggled to hold the lower level feedlot areas sold cattle 1.00 lower live and mostly 2.00 lower dressed from 69.00-69.50 and 109.00-110.00. Local Holstein steers were active and managed to hold steady, while a light offering of slaughter heifers were also steady. This week’s biggest story was the slaughter cow market, which dosed firm to 1.00 higher than last week’s higher prices.
