(Continued from Pago A 10)
“Therefore take no thought tor
the morrow.” I was taught that
it meant that we should not con
cern ourselves with what might
happen in the future.
Then, Psalms 118:8 says, “It
is better to trust in the Lord than
to put confidence in man.” If
you trust in the Lord, then you
would not even consider a con
tract that had a biosecurity
clause in it. Biosecurity is con
figuration of man’s thinking.
There are many other scrip
ture verses that come to mind,
but I do not have the time or
space to go into detail. What
seems so strange to me is that
many of the Mennonites, and
even a few Amish, have suc
cumbed to the pressuring of the
companies that advocate
biosecurity and make it a re
quirement of contracts. These
same people belong to churches
that preach about “unequal
yokes in business and dealings
with the outside world,” yet
close their eyes to their brother
hood doing just that.

sometime. I feel that it is a worse
failure than the demise of farm
ing in general, when the farmers
become so conscious of mone
tary gains that they must resort
to practices that are the opposite
of what the Bible and God
teaches. Trust in God above all
things, and accept failure as His
plan for you.
Editor’s Note: Certainly the
things in life that we cannot
control are best put in the
hands of a loving Father God.
In faith we shall come through
these trials better disciplined to
be useful in His service.

A fool hath no delight in
understanding but that his
heart may discover itself.
Proverbs 18:2. He also that is
slothful in his work is brother to
him that is a great waster.
(Verse 9).
I would be hard pressed to
call anyone a Christian who did
not do everything possible on
the farm to prevent disease
from spreading both in your
own herds and flocks, and onto
neighbor’s herds and flocks,
especially down stream, or
down wind. In addition, if your
animals and flocks are sick or
carrying disease the food you
produce for God’s children in
the cities may very well make
them sick.
Biosecurity is simply doing
all you can to protect your
animals and flocks from getting
sick. To keep your place clean
and spread a little disinfectant
around from time to time
should not be that much of a
conflict with a man or woman’s
religion, I would not think.
