CATTLE Compared to Thursday's
active market, slaughter steers and
heifers opened the week slightly lower on
Monday but improved during Tuesday's
good offering to end up trading mostly
steady Holstein steer prices were steady
in a light test Slaughter cows were active
and sold 50-1 00 higher, while slaughter
bulls were steady The supply included 44
percent slaughter steers and 42 percent
slaughter cows

CATTLE: Compared to Tuesday,
slaughter steers and heifers sold steady
to weak.
Although prices slipped slightly lower,
the market held up remarkably well con
sidering the heavy receipts. Holstein
steers traded steady to .50 higher than
the last good test, which was a week ago.
Slaughter cows continued active, but
sold steady to .50 lower. Slaughter bull
prices were hilly steady.
Supply Included 55 percent slaughter
steers and 33 percent slaughter cows.

with good demand. A good run of laroer
slaughter calves sold mostly 5.00 lower.
Trading was fairly slow for Holstein
bulls returning to feed with prices trend
ing 40.00-50.00 lower. Holstein heifer
demand was also lighter and sales
ranged 20.00-30.00 lower. Supply in
cluded 384 head in the State graded sale
and 92 percent returned to feed.

CATTLE: Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers and heif
ers closed mostly steady to weak. Prices
were largely unchanged this week and
the market actually showed good
strength on Thursday by digesting over
700 head of fat cattle without losing
ground, but conditions were still slightly
weaker than late last week’s active
market Midwest cattle feeders found le
verage on the big four packers and sold
1.00 higher live and 2.00 higher dressed
at 70.00 and mostly 113.00. Local Hol
stein steers ended steady to .50 higher
than last week. Slaughter cows were also
