Weekly Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Feeder cattle
and calves poorly tested due to light re-
our
Lancaster Fanning, Saturday, June 3, 2000-A7
ceipts following Memorial holiday. Few
feeder cattle near steady. Feeder
demand moderate. Stockers and calves
steady to 5.00 lower. Demand very light
for calves and Stockers as wheat harvest
just underway and farmers not inter
ested in receiving pasture cattle. Rains in
the north a plus for feeders as corn and
bean futures dropped sharply Tuesday.
Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 higher.
Slaughter bulls steady. Packer demand
good for light receipts. Total of 155 cows
and bulls sold with 35 percent going to
packers.
Receipts this holiday week 2,985; last
week 16,546; last year 4,114.
Supply consisted of 54 percent year
lings over 600 lbs; 41 percent calves
under 600 lbs; 5 percent cows and bulls.
Heifers comprised 46 percent of feeder
and calf supply.
