CALVES; Compared to last week,
Lancaster Farming, Saturday, June 3, 2000-A2l
trading for veal calves continued active
and prices closed 3.00-5.00 higher.
Larger slaughter calves were not well
tested this past week. The demand for
Holstein bulls suitable for special-fed
veal barns was very good early in the
week, but faltered on Thursday with lim
ited participation by those celebrating
the religious holiday. Bull calves closed
70.00-80.00 lower on late week losses.
However, Holstein heifers ended the
week 25.00-45.00 higher in active trad
ing.
