RIDGE FIRE COMPANY BLUE ROOM
Along Rt. 23, Between Phoenixville, PA and Rt. 100
Selling exclusively for the Estate of Joseph Alfonsi, Philadelphia, PA, who worked
for SEPTA for 45 years and is credited with saving from destruction many trollevs
rail cars, and local railway artifacts. “O” scale seems to have been his last great
love, but an HO layout over 50 feet long in the basement speaks of other affections
Included was an HO circus, numerous structures and very complicated trackwork'
Selling also a railway library of about 100 volumes, which covers local traction his
tory and other rail topics. Of considerable interest should be accumulated photos
documents and ephemera concerning SEPTA operations an history.
There are 50 locomotives in “O” Scale, including both steam types and diesels
from makers such as AHM, Weaver, International Models, Wenzco Loco Work
Shop, Walthers, Scale Craft, Williams, Atlas, All Nation and Lionel. Some of these
are rare and desirable. Exact scale models of the real thing!
As many of you know, Mr. Alfonsi was a circus buff, especially Rinqlino Bros and
Barnum & Bailey. His collection has well over 100 circus cars, many loaded’with
colorful Wardie Jay wagons and animal cages. His was a motorized outfit and
used old Bulldog Macks, as well as later trucks and tractors. Another fascination
was the fabulous Hiawatha and other UP streamliner cousins. Several variations of
each graced his shelves, accounting for another 100 pieces.
